Library Loot #9

  • Library LootLibrary Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Marg from The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post — feel free to steal the button — and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.

I really don’t have any right to bombard the library at this point. School stress is mounting and I already have bundles upon bundles of books to read. Being me, however, I couldn’t stop myself. So let’s see what I picked up, shall we?

Library Loot 1

I could have gone all-out and raided the entire graphic novel section, but I restrained myself. (I really wanted Watchmen! Next time, maybe.) Some might be familiar with my love for Jason’s The Last Musketeer, as well as a few other of his graphic novels, so of course I had to snatch up another. Seeing as how I snuck over to the library late last week, I’ve already read Jason’s graphic novel — enjoyable, but I don’t enjoy it as much as his other work. Otherwise, I’m excited to start Kabuishi’s Amulet! I know of many bloggers who’ve read and greatly enjoyed the series, and I hope to be among the satisfied.

As quick, last-minute grabs, I also decided on a few poetry books…

Library Loot 2

Because, you know, April is National Poetry Month (but of course it’s May now). It’s been a while since I’ve delved into any poetry, and I honestly haven’t felt like reading any, but I’ll give ’em a go anyhow.

Library Loot 4Anna Dressed in Blood has been the center of hype, and I admit to keeping my distance for a long time — until I finally caved and grabbed it from the library’s shelf and realized: Oh. It doesn’t sound bad. It sounds kind of interesting. That was last October, though, and I simply didn’t have the time available to read the book. By now I’ve only read a small amount, and… I’m not all too interested. I’m not sure if it’s not the book for me, or if I should prevail a bit longer in hopes that the story picks up. (I am, after all, only on chapter four…) At the moment I’m moving through The Virgin Suicides, which I find much more engrossing.

That’s all the loot from me this week. What did you get?
